I've never been much of an ice cream person. It's too creamy and rich for me. And when I do end up eating it, I'm always left feeling bloated and guilty. So when Halo Top Creamery contacted me and said they wanted to work together, I was skeptical. They said that their ice cream was low calorie. That made me really skeptical. Normally, I'm someone who thinks that if you're going to eat dessert at all, it might as well be full fat and full sugar. But since this is a health page and since the whole "new year, new me" crap is upon us, I figured I'd give them a try. After all, who doesn't love free ice cream?
I am now ashamed to say I ever doubted them. I've tried it all: low calorie, soy, vegan, gluten free... but this is the real deal. Made with real cream, this ice cream is so delicious, I had my family singing Halo Top's praises within minutes.
Whole Foods was all out of Halo's new flavors (mint chip, chocolate mocha chip, and birthday cake), so I got the only four they had: vanilla, strawberry, lemon cake, and chocolate. Luckily I like all of those flavors normally, and Halo Top made them 100x better.
I served the strawberry flavor with frozen strawberries and champagne (I even made it into a float) and it was so good. I reminded me of being a little kid and drinking strawberry milk. :)
I served the vanilla in the form of affogato, vanilla ice cream with espresso poured over it. This tastes so indulgent, but its so healthy for you! Perfect when you need an afternoon kick! I put a vanilla bean in mine to be classy.
Finally, the chocolate is delicious on its own, or with a cup of coffee.
How do you like to eat your ice cream?
