Bobby and I went to Leavenworth in September just for a one night getaway. It's a Bavarian themed town in the mountains of Washington, and the perfect place for a wee adventure. We were planning on going for a big hike, but when we got there we realized that it was the day of the Fall Leaf Parade (I'm not kidding) so we decided to join in the festivities instead. We watched the parade, walked around downtown, and picnicked by the river. We ended up camping on a forest service road above town called Mountain Home Road, which has great free camping that overlooks the town. It was a perfect one night vacation, and the sunrise and beer pancakes the next morning tied the whole thing together. I love Washington!
This weekend we went climbing out in Tieton (central Washington). We left before the sun came up, hot chocolate and mate in our bellies, and headed east. Three hours later we arrived at our 'hike-in' spot to a light snow flurry. We hiked (tumbled) down and started climbing. Walter and Matt led and the rest of us belayed and climbed. Our fingers were frozen stiff by the end of the day and our legs were battered and bruised, but we had some gnarly climbs under our harnesses so we hiked out with enthusiasm. Thanks for an amazing trip. You guys rock ;).
I cannot thank these lovely ladies enough for their company, endless good energy, culinary excellence and overall amazingness this weekend.
Special thanks to Gracie for capturing some of these beautiful moments.
Absolutely LOVED spending the day climbing in Vantage with my gals. Climbing outdoors is a totally different animal than climbing in a gym but I fell in love! Can't wait to go back.
